Los rastreadores de contactos analizan la exposición de personas concretas a enfermedades infecciosas, les asesoran a ellas y a sus contactos sobre medidas para contener la propagación de las enfermedades y realizan un seguimiento con ellas de manera regular. Se ponen en contacto con las personas que dan positivo por mensaje de texto, correo electrónico o teléfono para preguntarles sobre las personas con las que han tenido contacto. Los rastreadores de contactos también pueden hacer visitas sobre el terreno para verificar en persona si las personas están respetando las medidas de aislamiento y cuarentena recomendadas por las autoridades.
